Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, on Saturday allayed
fears over
his continued occupation of his present office on account of
his trial over alleged forgery of senate rules, insisting that nobody
would remove him from office.
Ekweremadu, who carpeted the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC),
over what he described as “endless ill feelings” of the leadership of
the party over his emergence, said nothing has happened that could make
him lose sleep over the ongoing trial.
Speaking at Ezeagu, Ezeagu local government council of Enugu State
during the Ikeoha Foundation, Adult Literacy Day 2015/2016 Scholarship
and Bursary Award, Ekweremadu declared: “I want to assure our people
that nobody will remove me. I am there not by my power or might, but by
the special grace of God. It is not by our trajectory, so, they cannot
do anything.”He stated that the
development shouldn’t make the people shiver; stressing it was mere
imagination that was churned out to deceive Nigerians, maintaining that
his emergence followed due process and the popular will of members of
the Senate.
Speaking on the activities of the foundation, through which he has
empowered thousands of people, including widows, within the last three
years, Ekweremadu said he would continue to partner with the Governor
Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi-led administration.
“Be assured that we will continue to support you; whoever is your
friend will be our friend; whoever is your enemy will have us to contend
with”, he told Governor Ugwuanyi.
