NPFL: Wikki hold Akwa in Uyo

Akwa United were held for the second consecutive week as Wikki Tourists earned a 1-1 draw at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo in a match-day five Nigeria Professional Football League fixture on Monday.

The Promise Keepers are currently 12th in the league table after five games, recording one win, a loss and three draws, with two of the draws coming from their home games.

Forward, Ndifreke Effiong, gave the hosts the lead in the 25th minute, his third goal of the campaign but Chinedu Udeagha equalised for the visitors in the 40th minute.

Akwa United failed to convert several chances, and Wikki will have goalkeeper Stanley Nwabili to thank for pulling off some fantastic saves.

Akwa will hope to return to winning ways when they visit fellow strugglers, Heartland, on Sunday.

The Naze Millionaires have lost four of their first five matches of the season.
