Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested one Eyo Eta on the Ijebu-Mushin/Benin Expressway while allegedly fleeing with his boss’ car.

Eta, a resident of No. 78 Iju Road, Ifako, Agege, Lagos State, was said to be running away with a Toyota Highlander SUV with number plate APP 467 GS when he was apprehended.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

Oyeyemi said the suspect was accosted by men of the Federal Highway Patrol team around 9.30pm at the Imeri junction, Ijebu-Mushin while heading for Benin.

The PPRO stated, “When he was stopped by the policemen, he was unable to give satisfactory answers to all the questions posed to him and he was subsequently taken to the station for more questioning.

“It was at the station that he confessed to taking the car away to Benin City, unknown to the owner.

“The DPO, Ijebu-Mushin, CSP Hillary Simire, there and then put a call to the owner of the car, who identified himself simply as Omopariola, and explained to the police on the phone that the driver ran away with the vehicle from Lagos and that he had already reported the case to the police.”

Oyeyemi said the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, had directed that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.
