Katsina police shoot suspected terrorist dead, nab informant

A yet-to-be-identified suspected terrorist has lost his life during an exchange of gunfire with policemen of the Katsina State Police Command, in Unguwar Maizuma Village, in the Danja Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent, said a suspected informant was arrested during the operation, adding that the policemen acted on credible intelligence that terrorists were sighted at a black spot in the village on August 20, 2022.

He said, “Around 7.30am, the Divisional Police Officer, Danja Division, led a team of policemen to the area and engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel. The team successfully repelled the terrorists and neutralised one of them.

“In the course of scanning the hideout, the following exhibits were recovered, a locally-fabricated gun; military camouflage uniform; machetes and a dagger; 100 bottles and five gallons of spirit; some quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

“Two motorcycles; three car batteries; one sewing machine; a roll of cable wire and two cooking gas cylinders. One suspected informant to the terrorists was also arrested.
