Police arrest 490 Nasarawa lockdown offenders

The Nasarawa State Police Command said it had apprehended about 490 lockdown offenders across the 13 local government areas and 18 development areas of the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Bola Longe, said this in the Government House, Lafia on Tuesday.

He said, “490 COVID-19 offenders were apprehended and prosecuted for violating the lockdown order by the government within the period under review.”

The police boss said security agencies would not relent in their efforts to ensuring that the directive given by the Federal Government on interstate travel ban was enforced.

The state Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism,  Mr Dogo Shammah, disclosed that the state government would roll out more palliatives to cushion the effects of the lockdown.

He added that the state government had received 40 trucks of rice, sugar, and maize from a private donor and would soon distribute them to the people.
