Zamfara State on Tuesday freed 54 prisoners to decongest correctional centres in the state.
Speaking during the exercise, the Controller, Gusau Correctional Centre, Alhaji Sani Patiskum, said 22 prisoners were pardoned by the Federal Government while the remaining 32 were pardoned by the state.
The Commissioner of Justice, Nura Zarumi, who represented Governor Bello Matawalle, said the state government was also planning to release another batch of 50 prisoners in due course.
